Medano Beach is always the most-crowded of Cabo San Lucas’ sandy wonders and it is here that you will find the best swimming conditions along with some excellent people-watching opportunities. Restaurants and bars line the sand and waiters are regularly seen bringing out buckets of beer to thirsty sunbathers who would rather not give up their prime sunning spot. Although the name Playa del Amor typically conjures up images of serenity and solitude along a private stretch of sand, this is actually Cabo San Lucas’ most photographed patch of sand. A must-see for every first time visitor, snorkeling around the cliffs in the Sea of Cortez is always a memorable experience, while a stroll along the sands on the Pacific side is bound to be awe-inspiring due to the dramatic, pounding surf. Although Medano Beach and the Sea of Cortez side of Playa del Amor are generally safe, most of the other beaches in Cabo San Lucas are better-suited for sightseeing and whale watching rather than swimming.

As your research may dictate and many people will tell you, one of the can’t-miss activities in Cabo San Lucas has to be sportfishing. Head over to the south side of the harbor and you will find several fleet operators who can take you out for the catch of a lifetime. Since this is of course Mexico, don’t forget to haggle a little to get the best price. While reeling in a hundred pound marlin is never out of the ordinary, some of the other monsters you might expect to find in the summer include sailfish, wahoo, and yellowfin tuna.

Boasting a variety of laid-back restaurants and bars on Bulevar Marina, Cabo San Lucas is clearly the nightlife capital of the Baja Peninsula. Rather than loud and flashy dance clubs, its focuses on more casual delights such as live music and Mexican fiestas. Themed parties such as Mexican fiestas are generally found at the larger hotels (Solmar, Finisterra, etc.) and can be a really good time and great value. Live music in an adult-oriented setting is available at the El Bistro restaurant, where jazz and relaxation are always on the menu, while the Whale Watcher’s Bar is the best place to kick back with a margarita and soak in the sunset.

As diverse as the entertainment options but relatively more important, Cabo San Lucas is teeming with accommodations that are just waiting to offer you the vacation of a lifetime. The truth is; most Mexican auto insurance brokers will NOT tell you that auto insurance, when driving in Mexico is not enough.

The fact of the matter is that if you get into an accident, there is a VERY high likelihood that you will need emergency assistance… particularly in Mexico where the severity of accidents can be much worse than in the United States.

Additionally, most people consider health insurance a MUST … but your health insurance policy here in the United States usually does not cover an injury or medical evacuation in Mexico.

This means that if you get Mexican auto insurance for your trip, and you end up NEEDING it, your United States health insurance will not cover any injuries.

Of course while it is true that Mexico does have a health system that gives free medical coverage to its citizens, those facilities are not available to foreigners. If you’re from the U.S. you will need to use a more expensive private clinic.

Then, it’s no secret that legal officials in Mexico may attempt to take advantage of visitors from north of their border. If you’re in an accident, you may certainly need legal help, which means you’ll want your auto insurance to cover those matters as well.

The truth of the matter is that most Mexican auto insurance brokers do not sell auto insurance that adequately covers emergency medical assistance or legal assistance. Emergency medical assistance services are so restricted among most auto insurance carriers that the Red Cross and a whole host of other international relief agencies use ONLY ONE company for their travel to Mexico and throughout the entire world.

On top of that, most of these service contracts are written with such low limits and so many exclusions as to render them potentially worthless.

To make matters worse, many brokers sell “Emergency Medical Evacuation Services” that end up being subcontracted to a third party vendor in Mexico who often uses additional subcontractors. In other words, the services provided are not being performed by the company you’re giving the money to.

I am considering buying a condo in Aculpaco,Mexico its beautiful it near the water facing the water and on the scenic route.

Yes, there is a great risk. Unless the law has been changed, non-citizens are prohibited from owning property within about one hundred miles of the sea coast. However, to get around this, a bank will buy the property, and they will be some kind of trustee for you. The arrangement lasts for 20 years, after which you have an option to renew. You must be a law abiding person. Hilton Hotels had a place in Acapulco, but did not conform to Mexican law. When it was time to exercise the option to renew, people from the Hilton chain could not get a visa to cross the border to exercise their option. Good by hotel. Last I heard, the Hotel is owned by Canadian Pacific RR. They did not buy it from Hilton.
