I Love Mexican Vacations

Vacations in Mexico remain one of the best travel deals available.

Archive for September, 2009

I am looking for an all-inclusive vacation to Mexico for my honeymoon and im wondering if anyone can tell me from experience what site got you the best value?

Stay away from the internet sites. These are booking agents. Contact your local travel agent and tell them the areas you are thinking about and give them a dollar amount you are willing to spend. They have all the information on everyone. They will tell you what is available in those areas and you can use the internet to get more information on the vacations that are in your budget.
It does not cost any more to use a travel agent than to go direct to the property and you will get someone to represent you locally that will look after your booking. This is also time saving for you as they are kowledgable about different clubs and can make recommendations.

Recommend some tours to take, sites to see, places to visit on a quick weekend trip. I won’t have a car, so what is the best way to get around? Is it really like an extension of Texas or will I feel like I am in another country?

Hi! You will feel you are in another country. Starting with language and architecture. Monterrey is more of an industrial and finantial center in Mexico. Still, there are plenty of things to do.

Strating with cultural stuff, you got Planetario Alfa, Marco Museum, Museum of Mexican History, or just take a walk along the Macro Plaza.

If you are a bit more outdoors, well you can visit the Grutas de Garcia, Cola de Caballo, National Park Chipinque, the Huasteca… those are the places closest to Monterrey´s Center.

Traditional places to eat in Monterrey, you got El Rey del Cabrito, El Mirador (some what expensive, but the best meat in town!). Los Arcos, Hawaii 5-0 are also nice.

For night life, you got everything… little bars whith live music and big clubs that close at dawn. For a turist, i would probably recomend Bar Río, San Pedro Antiguo, Aloha.

Public transportation covers most part of Monterrey, but it is not very comfortable. Taxis can be found everywhere, and aren´t too expensive. Ask at your hotel.

Hope you have a great time!

I recently stayed at an H10 resort in Mexico and attended one of their timeshare presentations. They repeatedly said that I needed to make a decision then and there because a Mexican law prohibits them from making me an offer or allowing me to negotiate with them after my first day there.

I’ve done some searching but can’t seem to find any laws like what they described. Is there any truth to it or was this just an aggressive, potentially fraudulent claim?

Hola! haaaahhhaaaa ha ha. Talk about silly selling tactics eh? Wow. There are no laws. They are just trying to pressure you.

Oh and by the way, they can make any kind of ‘potentially fraudulent comments’ all they want. They are in Mexico and you are at their presentation. This is how they weed out those who are potential buyers from those who are just there for the free stuff.

I just went last year to Rui Palace Mexico. It is one of the nicest hotels in the Riviera Maya. They had beautiful rooms. Well kept facilities, looked brand new. Great curtious staff. Above all a private beach with free activities for the kids. It is as nice as the pictures look! Have Fun!

I’m thinking of heading to Mexico/South America in January (from the UK) for thee weeks with my girlfriend.
I’ve travelled/backpacked before but she hasn’t and is terrified by the prospect.

So I thought a guided tour/trek (like Trek America, or Oz Experience) would be a happy medium.

Can anyone recommend a company they have travelled with or heard good things about?

Can anyone recommend anywhere I should visit?!

Thanks all!

The Bamba Experience is a good way to get to know Mexico and Central America:

http://www.bambaexperience.com/

The Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Pass gives you the freedom to change you schedule any time. If you feel like you want two more days to explore a town, just tell the driver and he’ll pick you up two days later.

What cities, towns and ruins you visit depends on how many days you’ve allocated to the entire adventure. With just three weeks, I think you should just concentrate on Mexico. Starting in Cancun you could visit Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Coba, Chichen itza, Merida, Palenque and San Cristobal de las Casas.

But it’s your holiday, browse through the Bamba Experience website and see what excites you and your girlfriend.
