when people are being kidnapped, murdered, raped and robbed? Why does anyone give them a second thought when they start crying we went on vacation and our family member was raped, robbed, murdered or kidnapped?
Not any more FDR they are killing people in the streets of Cancun and Mexico city and Kidnapping US citizens.
WIERD suggestion folks how about lake Havasu and the Gulf Coast they need the business.

Most US tourists going to Mexico are retired and go there because they can stretch the dollar. Popular with college kids without brains and horny genital areas, buy cheap alcohol and screw their brains out.

So i’m going to mexico on vacation and i was wondering if i could use my wifi enabled blackberry to make a call or send/receive texts via wifi connectivity? Does any one know if I can do that? I’ve used wifi to make a call when there wasn’t any service at my sisters house but i don’t know if it’ll work in mexico?

Yes, you should be able to do this. You can usually find free wifi in the lobby of nice hotels. If you are looking for more free public wifi hotspots you can also check @ the free wifi wiki: http://freewifiwiki.net/index.php?title=Main_Page

Of course if you are not on a shoestring budget and staying at those nice places you are likely to get free wifi anyways.

Either way — happy travels~!

Does anyone recommend any vacation spots in Mexico? Im looking to stay along the gulf. I have never been and am planning on going in April. Id prefer somewhere where its not TOO crowded and reasonably priced…I just want opinions from people whos been there.

I’d recommend staying in the Mayan Riviera, which is on the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Southern Shore of the Gulf.

This is a popular tourist area, with lots of amenities nearby, but its not overcrowded like some.

Specifically, I’d recommend the Barcelo Maya Colonial. The food was amazing, the buffet changed daily and never got old, and the beach was pristine. Quite large when compared to most of those in Cancun and it has earned every bit of its 5 star rating.

I couldn’t have been happier with the resort. The rooms, beach, restaurant, staff, etc. were all great. I wrote a review of my stay there for The Canadian Traveler; in the sources below.

The beaches here were fantastic, much bigger than at the resorts in say, Cancun so you were able to spread out, etc. and it didn’t feel crowded. The sand was beautiful, soft and white, and the water was great too.

I am looking to plan a vacation to Mexico with my boyfriend. What are some nice places you have been?

I’m looking at:

Riviera Maya
Cozumel
Acapulco

I have been to Puerto Vallarta and am not really interested in going back anytime soon.

Thanks!
Cancun seems way too touristy.

Zacatecas and Monterrey are my favorite cities in the north. In the center if you have a sense of adventure scenery in the Huasteca is nice. Futher south I am fond of Chiapas

The tour called: Tapitio tours has double decker buses that have a very nice city tour. This would be my first choice of things to do, that way, you can revisit places that you saw on the tour.

Another ‘must see place’ is San Juan de Dios marketplace downtown. You won’t believe everything that is for sale.

Given all of the violence reported in the news lately?
Would you plan a Mexico vacation at all?
This is NOT a cruise question.
Land vacations only!!

I would plan a vacation in Mexico as quickly as I would plan one for Afghanistan. In fact, I would go to Afghanistan faster than I would to Mexico. At least there I would have U.S. troops to help protect me. Why anyone would consider Mexico is a mystery to me. To save a couple of bucks you would risk your life and the life of loved one’s? I guess so if your and their life is that cheap. There are plenty of safe places to go. Mexico is not one of them. What ever you do , good luck.
