It’s all about …
It’s all about which guy had his hands on a particular instrument. I’ve played MIM Strats and Teles that were awesome, better than some USA pieces. Don’t mail order a MIM guitar, you must play them and sort through the mediocrity. alot of them just need proper set-up but some are junk from the start. Prices are good and a great one can be found.

Ive had about half …
Ive had about half a dozen Mexican Fenders.
2 were okay, 2 were good, and 2 were outstanding, one of which was probably the best guitar I have played in over 35 years of playing, and certainly as good as any U.S strat Ive ever played (and Ive played LOTS!).
The Mex factory has come on in leaps and bounds over the last 5 years and i believe now turns out guitars virtually as good as the U.S factory in most cases.
The Mex John 5 Telecaster for example is a fantastic guitar.

Interesting to see …
Interesting to see the Mexican Fender plant. Guitars can be made anywhere in the world now C&C tools are just the same everywhere. Fender makes guitars in Mexico because labor is so cheap. Cheaper than in Japan for sure. Japanese Fenders are about the best quality guitars you can buy for the money. USA made Fenders are not the quality product they once claimed to be. I have USA and Japanese Stratocasters in my collection. The ones I use most are the Japanese ones because they play better.

the 2006 upgrade …
the 2006 upgrade mexican fender standard stratocaster as far as quality and craftmanship have been compared to the USA made strats.the 2006 upgrade MIM standard fender strat is said to be the best built MIM strat in the 21 year history of the mexican fender plant. i would like to have a 2006 standard but cant find one.plenty of 007’s and 008’s but no 006’s. I WANT A 2006 MIM STANDARD STRAT! ANTIQUE WHITE.

Ooo big man, your …
Ooo big man, your what? Starting a fight on You Tube? That’s very mature for someone who’s been playing guitar for “24 years”. I don’t care what you got to say, fithing over the internet is like the special olympics, you can win but your still retarted… Hmm guess you win.

and your wrong …
and your wrong about the strats they will hold there value even if there from the early 80s Look at Eddie Van Halen. His is worth more then a steve Vai and so is DimeBag Darrel. I can tell right now that you just like to get stuff started and a poser because you only have been talking about the steve Vai and J custom through the hole coversation.
If you have any sence you wouldn’t reply to this comment unless you want to really hear what I got to say. Bitch

Steve Vai and J …
Steve Vai and J custom are two totally different models if you had a brain you’d know so. I don’t care how long you’ve been playing, doesn’t mean to me. Fender lost it’s value when leo fender sold the name. A REAL STRAT 1965 (or previous) will hold value, everything else is alright.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Nobody cares about …
Nobody cares about a Steve Vai J Custom and I have been playing guitar for almost 24 years.
So don’t you be telling me about guitars. Btw you can rent a Steve Vai J Custom from musician friends for only $66 a month. that isn’t alot and you can rent a american strat for $102 month.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Then maybe you …
Then maybe you should look up J Custom as I stated previously, they are made of the finest material. The retail price is worth way more than the list of an American standard. The pickups are almost all Dimarzio. Everything down to the inlay is good. If you haven’t played one, I wouldn’t suggest knocking off the shelf to a basic Strat.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Japan guitars are …
Japan guitars are made with multible layers of wood they don’t have a solid body to it. Japan guitars are made in 3 sections. And I know for a fact that Japan doesn’t hold the same value then USA because Japan pickups and the stuff like that most of them sound crapy unless somebody haves done work to them. and usa fender was the first company to start making them and then it was mexico. And signaure guitars are going to be worth alot but I’m not talking about those.

Go play a Ibanez J …
Go play a Ibanez J Custom then say the same. Japan makes quality things, you might be mistaking a lot of things for crappy Korean guitars. I myself have played guitar for 10 years and have owned Fenders and Ibanez and ESP and etc. It all comes down to preference but at the same time, some Japanese guitars hold more Value. If your speaking of Artist series then maybe not. I’ve owned about 7 Steve Vai Jems and they hold more value than a Standard American Strat (which I’ve owned as well)
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
No Japanese guitars …
No Japanese guitars do not hold the same value. If they did don’t you think they will be higher then $299. A USA Fender lowest is $699. and thats if its used. I have been playing guitars ever since I was 3 years old I grew up around Music my dad and my 2 uncles are in a band and I have a Band my self and alot of music stores if you ask them they will tell you that Japanese isn’t worth your time. It’s not made as good. They don’t have one solid body to it. Like Mexican and USA does.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:18 am
Japanese guitars …
Japanese guitars hold the same vaulie, if not even more.
