I Love Mexican Vacations
Vacations in Mexico remain one of the best travel deals available.
Can Filipino national who just became US citizen thru the military 2009, travel to Mexico w/o his passport yet?
My friend was born in the Philipines, moved to the US when he was young and became a permanent resident. He recently became a US citizen through the US Army last 4th of July in Baghdad. So he is returning from deployment but hasn’t gotten his US passport yet. Can he travel to Mexico?
I believe that the restrictions are Command based. If stationed on Ft. Bliss then Boys Town is Off Limits. TJ is also Off Limits to Marines in S CA. Unless there is an Army wide ban he can go. He will need to inform his command…just a guess….since he will be out of the country. He will need the ID that the guys checking at the border want to see.
Military ID is OK, but only when traveling on orders. Read all at the link.
3 of us drove from Germany to England once, we took a ferry from Belgium. Our Leave Orders indicated we were going to England and they were stamped as if a passport.

I’m not sure, I know there are certain parts of Mexico that the military are not allowed to travel like Juarez.

No he cannot as you now require a passport, Enhanced DL’s, Passport Card or NEXUS to travel between US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean via Air, Land or Sea. He will also have to check to see if he is allowed to go to Mexico as some areas are off limits to military personnel.
